The second life of church anti-Nazi resistance in the catholic-oriented press of the third Czechoslovak republic

This bachelor thesis analyses the second life of the church anti-Nazi resistance, including its persecution as reflected in the selected Catholic-oriented press of the third Czechoslovak republic, i.e. in the years 1945-1948, especially in the magazines Katolík and Obzory. The first two chapters are devoted to the contemporary context and the press under study, and the most comprehensive chapter gives an overview of the second life of the church resistance in six subchapters, according to the object of commemoration. The thesis draws on selected contemporary national and regional press and secondary literature on church resistance and persecution during the Second World War and on the third Czechoslovak republic. On the basis of a thorough analysis of contemporary texts, the aim of this thesis is to describe the immediate second life of the church resistance with regard to its political use.
Comparison of the relationship of the Czechoslovak National Socialist Party and the Czechoslovak Social Democratic Party to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in the postwar years 1945-1948

This bachelor work compares the relationship of the Czechoslovak National Socialist Party and the Czechoslovak Social Democratic Party to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in the term of the third Czechoslovak Republic, that implies in the postwar years 1945-1948. The aim of this text is to interpret the examined relationships in the context of selected internal political event, in which proved the similarities and differences among these three socialist parties. First, the text sketches the postwar restoration of the activity of political parties, the approval of the Košice government programme and the creation of the National Front. Then follows a passage devoted to the Czechoslovakian parliamentary elections to the Constituent National Assembly in 1946 and an analysis of the debates on the nationalization and the land reform. Another part of this text deals with the disputes about the millionaire's taxes, that caused not only the internal political conflicts, but it escalated even more the contradictions within social democracy, which subsequently changed the party chairman on the Brno congress. National and Political Cleansing in Mohelnice 1945-1948. Expulsion - Tranfer - Retribution Jaromír Mrňka, Institute of Economic and Social History FF UK, 2011. Expulsion - Transfer - Retribution' copes with theme WWII aftermath cleansing processes in town of Mohelnice in northern Moravia during the period of the so called Third Czechoslovakian Republic. In the context of long- term development of Czech-German relations in the region and other context of revolutionary changes in a structure of post-war society, thesis examines involvement of particular historical players during the period of the so called expulsion of Germans and wild retribution from May till July 1945, in the execution of the so called Great decree from July 1945 and in the organized phase of the transfer of German population in the region during the year 1946. Thesis studies motivations and changes of social status of defendants of the Great decree in the connection with their engagement in structures of the NSDAP.

Small businesses in Prachatice during the years after the World War II. Contribution to the economic history of the town in the half of the 20th century

The purpose of this bachelor´s is to map the development of small businesses in Prachatice during the period so-called Third Czechoslovak Republic, between the years 1945-1948 with an extra overlap until 1954. To a large extent the time-span is influenced by character of archiv materials firstly being more comprehensive between the years 1948-1954, as far as various public notices, list of small businesses and few photographs are considered. Based on such materials the development of firm trade, yet its structural changes are defined, and futhermore situated into political, economical and social context of the Czechoslovakian state or, as the case may be, of South Bohemia and the Prachatice district. The small-businesses development is continuousty compared with another two location, i.e. Vimper in 1946 and Volary (1946, 1948-1954). Last but not least, this work endeavours to compare the pre- and post-war firm trade´s condition.
